To find some work in the towns, English language and basic computer skills proficiency is a significant requirement. But in Cambodia, the opportunity to learn is not available for everybody, especially, those who are poor and belong to underprivileged backgrounds. As a result, many people remain either jobless or have to struggle with an unskilled labor job profile. If you wish to help out the future generation, then you should definitely volunteer as an English Teacher and help the kids to choose a better career in the days ahead. Volunteering Solutions has effectively designed this Teaching English Program in Cambodia, which is one of the most effective ways to help and support the education system of the country.
You don’t need to have a professional degree to be a teacher here, all you need is an open mindset and the zeal to make a difference. You can teach the young ones how to communicate well and help them learn the basics of English grammar. A decent command on the language can improve the chances of getting a better-paid job for young workers, as well as expand the scope of job profiles they can venture into. And who knows, probably they’ll also help you to learn a little bit of Khmer!
Note: Volunteers joining the English Teaching Project in Cambodia will have to devote a minimum of 2 weeks for the program.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the program. Volunteers need to have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. The volunteer should bring energy and enthusiasm to make a difference. Participants must be physically fit and in good health at the time of joining the program. Participants should have no criminal convictions and should provide a clean criminal background check before joining the project.
• Being a volunteer, you’ll get to work alongside the English teachers, sometimes monks, or even lead the classes in improving the pronunciation and conversational skills.
• Make daily plans and keep the class engaged for at least 3 to 6 hours every day.
• Focus on the weaker kids, and see how you can help them out. Keep a tab on the growth of your students.
• Help in improving the vocabulary of the students.
• Prepare test sheets for regular assessments.
• The best would be to focus on interactive sessions and activity-based learning methods.
